People kept on coming to us. And they would say, “I’m looking for a programmer that knows ‘X.’ where do I find them?” Or people who wanted to learn how to program would say, “I want to get involved in this programming language. Where do, where do those people hang out?” And the answer was there wasn’t really a good place where any of the tech community hung out. We realized that there were probably a thousand software developers alone—just in this region. So we started Hacky Hour with this realization that we need to get this community together to learn from each other, to help each other learn, and to grow the community. So every week we’ll provide a beautiful space through New Leaf Initiative. We’ll provide the food and the drinks and a welcoming community. And it’s just a space where kind of like at a coffee shop you can always go there, and you can always hang out. And you can always know that you can come with your questions or with something that you’re proud of. And you're going to be among a welcoming group of peers that you can learn from, and that can learn from you. So honestly one of the goals too for things like Hacky Hour is to try and raise some awareness of how much cool stuff really is going on in this region ’cause it really is tremendous, but it’s a hidden gem. You really have to dig below the surface a little.
