You are stationed at Ft. Benning in Georgia. The first time you go downtown, you’re confronted by two white policemen, who harass you because you’re black. They arrest you, and you spend the night in jail. When you get back to Ft. Benning, you’re restricted to the base with extra duty, and your pay is reduced by two-thirds. You’re angry and not sure how you can fight for a country that treats you so badly.
