Is it that hard to vote in the U.S.?

We vote on a weekday, when most adults work.

We require voters in many states to register to vote months ahead of time, using a process that is not easy for everyone to navigate.

Now many states are adding obstacles like voter ID laws. The argument for such laws is that voter fraud is a threat to democracy, so we must assure the integrity of the process by verifying the citizenship of each voter. The facts do not support this argument.

Indeed, voter fraud—the impetus for the laws—hardly ever happens.
